Course Overview

This module centres on the critical practice of the Childcare Educator in regularly reflecting on their current practices and behaviours. Through this process, they identify their strengths and formulate plans for change aimed at fostering improvement. Participants learn to engage in purposeful self-assessment, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the childcare setting.

Moreover, the module underscores the active participation of the Childcare Educator in ongoing professional development opportunities. This commitment ensures that their dispositions, knowledge, and skills remain in alignment with the evolving knowledge base of the profession. Participants gain insight into the various avenues for professional growth and engage in activities that enhance their expertise and efficacy in the field of early childhood education.

This module is designed to equip educators with the tools and mindset necessary for sustained excellence in their practice.

The main assessment method will be as follows: 100% Assignment (Word Count: 4,000 – 6,000 words)

  • Professionals already working in early years settings who wish to formalize their knowledge and enhance their professional competence.
  • Professionals in related sectors who seek to broaden their expertise in early childhood education and care practices.

Students must achieve a minimum overall mark of 50% to successfully complete the award.

Programme is offered 100% online or via blended learning (subject to programme requirements and change).

  • Applicants must possess Maltese, English, Mathematics and one additional subject at SEC level (or equivalent).
  • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English.
  • Applicants must provide a clean Police Conduct certificate.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the programme.
